What is a Walkthrough Bond?

Let’s start from the beginning, when there is a warrant for your arrest in Harris County, there is normally NO BOND set ($0), instead, it says, “Refer to Magistrate.”  When you are arrested and processed into jail, you will indeed see a magistrate, eventually.  The magistrate is a Judge that will hear the probable cause and set a bond amount, or refer it to a District Court the following day or so. At that point, the bond could be set and a bonding company can post a bail bond, and you will be released aproximately 6-12 hours later. Getting arrested in Harris County is not a quick process, as it usually takes 16-36 hours to get in and out of jail. HOWEVER, when there is a warrant for your arrest, you may very well be able to post a “WALK-THROUGH” bond and avoid the hassle of going to JAIL. On a walk-thru bond, you only get finger printed and take a mug shot, and then you are free to go home. Of course, you’ll have to appear in court after that to fight the charges, but posting a bond is the first step.

Sometimes, an arrest warrant is not a public record, yet the warrant is ACTIVE.  If you have the case number, your attorney can find your case, and inquire about a walk-through bond to proceed with this matter.

You need a lawyer or an attorney (they are the same thing) to help you with a walk- through bond because you can’t just walk into the courtroom by yourself with an open warrant and expect to NOT be arrested. However, you CAN walk into a court room with your lawyer AND a Bail Bondsman and expect to be allowed to do a “Non-Arrest” or “Walk-Through” bond. Of course, there are no  guarantees, as some of the Felony courts do not allow “walk-through” bonds, but most do. The attorney you hire will know for sure about your particular court’s policy.

You need an attorney that will not only fight to protect your freedom, but one that is familiar with the walk-through policies of each and every court. The lawyers advertising on this page are familiar with the “walk-through” process and can help you find a trustworthy Bail Bond Company if you don’t already have one.

Call several attorneys, it’s free to discuss your case , but don’t delay because if there is a warrant for your arrest, then you could be arrested at any time, by any peace officer and you will not be allowed to do a “Walk-Through” bond if you are pulled over or otherwise arrested.

Be careful and hire an attorney right away to find out if you can do a “walk-through bond”!
